Oh yeah, it’s that time again.
Another month come and gone already! Time for me to let my accountability buddies know how I’m doing thus far on my path to fithood or something. But at any rate, let’s see how I’m doing.
Last months weight: 274.9 lbs
Current weight: 263.7 lbs
Difference: -11.2 lbs
Weight till goal: 43.7 lbs
Wow, not gonna lie that is a bit of a shocker for me. This month has been ROUGH!!! All I want to to do is sleep and eat a bucket of fried chicken covered in gravy…er the chicken covered in gravy not me…
actually scratch that I’d take being covered in gravy too
But hey, look at that, I’ve hit the 20 pound mark. I thought I’d be prouder of myself for getting this far, but all I see is the distance till I’ve met my goal. It sucks when you rely on food as your emotional support animal.
It always boils down to the same thing everyday: start of strong and feeling great…and er…well yknow what happens…

But stubbornness and determination are key to success, so here I am now…hungry and lighter but still stubborn and determined.
At any rate, some of you might be asking: what’s your secret Grumpu Nerd Dad? How are you losing all of your weight? Well, to that I’d like to quote the amazing Chris Pratt when he was asked how he got into shape for “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
“Basically I cried like 40 pounds off and the rest was being hungry and running a lot.”
True words there folks. Spoken like a true bard of his craft .
I’m afraid that’s all there is to it: keep track of your calories and be sure that you burn more than you’re eating. Now that’s not me saying your active calories need to be higher than your consumed calories! That would be insane! Just try to figure out what your typical overall calorie burn is for your body a day and try to keep your intake lower than that. There’s apps and stuff to use, won’t really go into how as I am not a dietitian or an expert. This is just what Is working for me.
Passed that, find a motivator to keep you going. Whenever I feel down, I just think of how fun it will be to ride bikes with my kids and going on hikes in the forest (also being able to walk around Disneyland at 60 with my wife is a secret drive of mine).
Stay focused.
Stay determined.
Stay…grumpy? No? I don’t know, truth be told I’m surprised I made it this far. But here’s hoping that next month has similar results…or else I may be bathing in gravy.
Stay classy, stay safe, and, above all else,
Stay Grumpy.
Incredible progress so far! I really like these fitness posts. Very relatable!
