Ah Valentine’s Day! Time of chocolates, love, sweethearts, and ridiculously overpriced flower arrangements.
No, seriously!
Just google flower arrangements folks! It’s how much for a bunch of smelly stuff that grows out of the dirt?! Daylight robbery! Am I paying for someone to decapitate the poor buggers and stick them in a suspended animation of water and diluted nutrients so they can slowly perish while we watch in adoration because if so, I can perform such a heinous act myself!
Have fun trying to get that out of your head.
But anyways, a happy Valentin’s Day my grumps and I hope your day is wonderful. Whether you be celebrating today with a special someone, or observing “Single’s Awareness Day” as I had for many years, you can at least all agree that tomorrow will be the best day on Earth as it is the day all the candy goes on sale!
How’s that New Years resolution going for ya?
Now, my wife and I have been married for a few years. As time goes on, between getting older and having children, your idea of what romance entails sort of…er…evolves.

Sure, you can try to flare it up from time to time to remind each other of the time both of you had more time and energy for such mating rituals, but at the end of the day you’re exhausted!
But hey, that doesn’t mean that the romance is dead! Just try to remember that your loved one needs attention from time to time and remind them that you still have the hots for them. One of the smallest yet most romantic things my wife ever did was leaving me a pack of Magic cards with a love note attached to it on the counter one night while she was working late because I was having a rough time at work. It seems silly and I’m sure she doesn’t even remember doing it, but sometimes it’s the small things that hit you the most. She took a moment out of her day to think of me and decided to do something sweet and I still remember that to this day.
Now she’s the logical and emotionless robot between the two of us while I’m the sensitive drama queen you must walk on eggshells with, so typically I’m much better at the lovey dovey stuff than she is, but she’s gotten me good many times. She handmade me a heart quilt for our first Valentin’s Day, planned out a years worth of dates for us to go on every month, surprised me with a trip to go see some waving bears (I freaking love bears!), and even planned out an entire Hobbit themed dinner party for me complete with a card from Gimli himself!
Yeah, she rocks.
Fun fact: I totally planned to propose on Valentine’s Day, but by golly the ring sizer was delayed and I couldn’t do it till next week! Still, a week after Valentine’s Day is close enough.

So this post is essentially my Valentine’s Day cars to you my love. Thank you for being an amazing mother, wife, and overall person. I still can’t believe that I get to call you my wife and I can’t quite figure out how I’ve kept you this long since you’re WAY out of my league. I love you, and thank you for all that you do.
Here’s a sultry drawing of myself for your enjoyment.

You’re welcome.
