Fitness With The Grumpy Nerd Dad: Month 1

Oh yes ladies and germs, you read that right.

The Grumpy Nerd Dad has gone over to the dark side and delved into the depths known as a fitness blog. Truth be told, I always disliked these things. I mean, I couldn’t care less what people weighed and how their workout routine kicked their toned little booties that day. And then they start posting body update selfies! Like come on people! All of your awesome hard work is filling up my Facebook feed and making it harder for me to see my Binging With Babish videos!

So why am I doing one now? Well, simply put…er…I don’t know.

Perhaps a part of me wants the responsibility of not letting down my devoted grumps in my endeavor, or maybe I just really wanted to doodle me in my workout attire

(you’re welcome). In either case, here we are at ground zero my friends! With any luck it’ll all be downhill from here! Or is it supposed to be uphill because of this being a fitness thing or something? How does this work?

But in all seriousness, I did want to highlight the struggles of getting into shape while being a stay at home parent. So much of our time is demanded of us that to pencil in a run every day just seems impossible. However, I’m not getting younger, my kids have an infinite amount of energy, and I want to ride bikes and go for hikes with them with as little to no heart attacks as possible. This is in no way going to be about body shaming or making fun of body types of any shape or size. We are all beautiful, sexy, and funky fresh in our own ways, this is all about trying to be around longer for my wee ones.

So, although this is cheating and dipping its toes into a wellness blog or something, I want you to keep in mind that this is to specifically note my findings with trying to get into shape while keeping my little monsters alive. I’ll be sharing what I learn along the way, what I find that works, what I find that doesn’t, and I’ll be sure to make my sweat and tears as funny as possible for your entertainment!

At any rate, I’m starting off on this journey at a fluffy and cozy 282.3lbs. My ultimate goal is, by Christmas, to weigh 220 lbs! That’s like, 43 pounds or something!!! Wait, hang on…let me bust out the calculator…oh…er…my bad, it’s 62.3 pounds…not nearly as fun as 43…

Yeah okay it’s a lot of work to pull off in a year, but I can do it! New year new me, right? That’s what we are supposed to do in January…right??? Oh this is going to be rough…

Ever see The Lord of the Rings when Aragorn Legolas and Gimli are running across Rohan? Well Gimli is basically my spirit animal when it comes to excercise

So tune in the first week of every month where I’ll give you my updated weight as well as some of my thoughts of the previous month. I’m sure it’s going to be…exciting…yeah sure exciting is a word for it!

So, until next time my grumps, stay classy, stay safe, and, above all else,

Stay grumpy.
