Sorry For The Absence

Long time no see my grumps, and happy November!

I haven’t written anything in a while due to the fact that my last week has been two steps away from being clinically considered insane! Remember how I said Rex and I were sick last time? Well it just so happens that the stomach flu doesn’t discriminate and the rest of the household got it! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay. Interesting dynamic when your kids get sick versus when you do. They get cuddled, pampered, hugged, and basically have every need taken care of. Parent being sick? Well…not so much.

So we spent our Halloween laying on the couch and puking up a storm. No biggee, we all got over it in basically a day…all except Princess.

Ah Princess.

She can never just do things easily and without drama.

Where the rest of us were eating solid food after a day, she decided to keep on puking up any and all substances introduced to her…for three days. Yeah, she was puking for three days with no food or water to keep down. We took her in to the hospital after the first 24 hours, and they, for obvious reasons, were hesitant to put an IV in a three year old. So they sent us home with some nausea meds and said come back if she doesn’t get better.

She didn’t.

My poor little baby girl was so dehydrated and had nothing on her tummy that she felt as light as a feather when I carried her into the emergency room again. It’s honestly just heart breaking to be powerless as a parent and watch your child suffer. She’d cry for water or food,l having no moisture in her body to form tears and we had to deny her because she’d just puke up what precious little liquids she still had in her stomach. They had to put an IV in her (which with me having trypanophobia, you can imagine how great that was for me) and pumped her full of liquids while she was just limp and passed out for a day in the hospital.

It’s so hard to just sit there and try and be positive not only for the sake of your little one but also for the sake of your spouse who is having just as much trouble with this as you are while your brain just has to be a jerk about the whole situation.

So yeah, it was a very sleepless and exhausting weekend. But we are home now, we are all recovered, and Princess is doing much better now that she isn’t puking her guts out. I’m try to get back on track with these posts and have some more tales for you next week.

Thank you for your support, and you guys know the rest. Stay classy, stay safe, and, above all else,

Stay grumpy.
